The new Springvale Library & Community Hub is a world-class meeting place designed to reflect the uniqueness of the Springvale community. Lyons Architecture worked closely with Greater Dandenong City Council to develop a flagship facility that would provide value to the Springvale locals and instil a sense of pride in the community. Ireland Brown Constructions oversaw the redevelopment which included the double-storey community hub comprising of a library, flexible community meeting spaces, exhibition areas, and a café.
“The new Springvale Community Hub has been designed as a place where people of all ages, backgrounds and interests can come together, connect and feel welcome. It is a true celebration of culture, diversity and community and will provide a variety of learning, leisure and cultural opportunities in one place.”
Mayor Jim Memeti, Greater Dandenong Mayor Councillor
Constructed in a sustainable manner, the new Springvale Library achieved both a 5-star Green Star Rating and Zero Net Carbon Emissions through various design features. This includes a high-performance façade (featuring our MAX™ SG182 suite), efficient heating and cooling systems, photovoltaic arrays, and low energy LED lighting. Our MAX® SG182 is one of our most popular framing systems thanks to its versatility and ability to minimise energy loss, which made it perfect for the high-performance façade. Other EDGE products used throughout the building include 80mm and 200mm face double-capped adaptors.
The facility is officially open, and locals are already using the new Springvale Library and Community Hub as a vibrant meeting place to congregate, relax, and study.
