Designer student living, with a practical approach

In December, Nettleton Tribe’s Victoria University student accommodation tower completed construction. More than just a dorm where students sleep, the project was designed and constructed to inspire activity and interaction. Located on Ballarat Road in Footscray, the 12-storey tower holds 504 rooms.

The new student accommodation at Victoria University delivers affordable housing without compromising livability. Clever use of fins, and shading and cladding elements, and window position variation combine to create a visually exciting tower exterior. Inside, the building’s design encourages interaction and engagement between residents.

Window Fabricator Mills Glass utilised MAX™ double glazed frames for external glazing areas of the Vic Uni student accommodation. MAX™  systems offer managed heat loss, increasing interior comfort levels through colder months, while external shading provides more comfortable interior temperatures during summer.
