Our SG182 Curtain Wall system is brilliantly showcased in the main external façade of the new Brownlow Stand at GMHBA Stadium, in Geelong. The stand was part of the fourth stage of redevelopments at the Cat’s home ground. It has undergone dramatic redevelopment since 2001 and after the next stage of works the stadium capacity will eclipse 40,000, making it the biggest regional stadium in Australia. Although, the stadium is primarily known as home of the AFL team, it also plays host to international cricket, Big Bash League, A-League, and Rugby Union matches.
The state-of-the-art stand includes 6500 seats, improved media facilities, a merch store, cafe, and a new function centre. Although, our curtain wall system is the undeniable star of the show, you’ll find EDGE® systems throughout the building. The fabricator, Westcoast Windows, used our systems in the corporate boxes and broadcast areas, and a viewing platform guests use to watch the players warm up.
The new Brownlow Stand has been a hit with everyone, from players, fans, and even critics. So far it has chalked up an impressive list of accolades, including:
We love being involved in projects like this. Previously, we’ve been involved with St. Kilda Football Club’s training facilities, RSEA Park, as well as Collingwood’s training base at Olympic Park. You can read more about our involvement with the Olympic Park redevelopment here.
