EDGE says "hello Sydney" with The Quay Haymarket

The Quay Haymarket, located in the heart of Sydney’s China Town, was designed by WMK Architects, Smart Design Studio and CHADA.

The development boasts an impressive two, 16 storey apartment towers, designed specifically to compliment existing heritage buildings at street level. Haymarket can be found towards the south end of Sydney’s CBD, adjacent to Darling Harbour. Know as the ‘local government area’, Haymarket is no stranger to beautiful buildings, designed to impress.

For EDGE Architectural, The Quay development is key to our project portfolio, as it’s our largest Sydney apartment tower to date. The project features U-MAX™ thermally broken awning sashes, sliding windows and sliding doors, on the façades with more aggressive energy ratings. Combining standard double glazed units with U-MAX™ thermally broken frames enabled project costs to remain manageable, without compromising on building performance.

An intelligent building envelope, means each apartment has full control over sliding fixed louvre screens; allowing enjoyment of warm winter sun, and exclusion of hot summer rays. Large balconies, well insulated walls and EDGE Architectural’s thermally broken windows, in conjunction with the louvred screens, contribute to year round interior comfort.

Earlier this week members from Team EDGE visited The Quay to see the completed project. Below are images from their visit.

Quay on Quay

“Situated in the heart of Chinatown, and combining the very best practices in architecture, construction, interior design and sensitive planning, The Quay is a $280m project designed to transform one of the most vibrant and colourful pockets of the city into a new urban home.”

  • An iconic building of two towers, above two levels of retail
  • A close walk to Chinatown, Glebe, the CBD and Universities
  • Walking distance to parks, nightlife, bars, restaurants and more
  • Embrace a whole new world of opportunity

“Most apartments benefit from north-facing living areas, bathing each living space in welcoming light and fresh air. You’ll enjoy the best of winter sunshine, and cool shade in summer thanks to undercover balconies, louvered screens and insulation to reduce energy consumption.

It’s not just many of the views that you’ll find breathtaking. Floor to ceiling glass allows abundant natural light to flow freely into open-design living spaces. While louvers allow you to set the mood and feel with light, air and views.”

  • Outstanding interior finishes
  • Quality high-level appliances
  • Island benches in most kitchens
  • Excellent storage throughout
