To help guide you on your colour journey, AkzoNobel have released their colour predictions, trend palettes and colour of the year for 2016. Selected by an international panel of colour experts, next year has been named the year of Ochre Gold. “So, why was ochre gold chosen as the stand-out colour for 2016? Following on from the copper theme of 2015, gold and gold tones are being used everywhere in the design world: at design fairs, in graphic design and in architecture, fashion, beauty and interior decorating.” Basically, gold is totally in Vogue right now. Complimented by light and dark palettes, ochre gold will lend itself nicely to residential and commercial markets, for interior and exterior applications.
In addition to nominating ochre gold as colour of the year, AkzoNobel have put together four key trend palettes. Heritage & Future, Words & Pictures, Dark & Light and The Grid & Letting Go, offer something for everyone. Exploring contrast and unexpected pastels (yes, pastels are officially back in fashion), if these palettes are anything to go by, 2016 is going to be bright and beautiful in the design world.
